Zolisile Mapipa is an accomplished media manager and performance practitioner who holds a BA degree majoring in Speech and Drama and Communication Science (University of Zululand), a BA Honours degree in Drama (Rhodes University), Post Graduate Diploma in Telecommunications and ICT (UNISA), Global Executive Development Programme (GIBS) and a BA Honours degree in Media Studies (UNISA) with extensive experience as a Radio Drama Producer and later Programmes Manager at Radio Transkei, Station Manager for Metro FM, General Manager for P4 Radio Durban, Content Manager for WorldSpace South Africa, General Manager Strategic Planning for SABC PBS radio and General Manager SABC PBS Radio portfolio of 15 radio stations.
He launched 2 radio stations; in 1998, P4 Radio, a Smooth Jazz radio station and in 2002 a temporary satellite radio station for the World Summit on Sustainable Development at WorldSpace Pty Ltd.
As drama producer Zolisile directed radio dramas for 4 years, directed stage dramas and television programmes and also appeared in stage plays, television soapies and radio and television commercials.
Zolisile has recently written a chapter in a book titled 100 YEARS OF RADIO IN SOUTH AFRICA with the heading The SABC Public Service Radio Product from 1996 -2016. The book is currently with the publishers.
