The Edit Support Engineer role will be based at our unique Gravity House facility in Soho. Gravity House offers nearly 50 off-line cutting rooms and is mainly occupied by clients working on feature films and drama productions. Each room is kitted out according to the client’s individual needs with Mac or PC based workstations running the client’s preferred editing software, most commonly Avid Media Composer. Each of the 6 floors has a technical space and the basement houses a viewing room, a comms room as well as a kit storage and preparation area. We also offer clients a remote working option through Teradici technology and a Leostream broker.


Build, configure and maintain Avid Media Composer Off Line Suites Install and configure Avid Nexis shared media storage Configure and support networks within the building for media, IP phones and internet access Configure and support hybrid remote working options Diagnose, repair or exchange faulty edit hardware Offer first line software support on Windows, Mac OSX and Avid Media Composer Work with the wider Gravity Media post-production engineering team for more complex issues Co-ordinate with the bookings team to ensure installs are correct Make use of room and kit bookings software systems to ensure that everything is correctly booked Be part of the friendly and helpful Gravity House team and join our free client social events


Post Production

Excellent working knowledge of Avid Media Composer
Some knowledge Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
Familiar with Boris BCC, Sapphire and other plugins
Able to build, configure and support non-linear editors
Familiar with Avid Nexis shared storage
Familiar with NAS storage such as Synology and Qnap
Some knowledge of remote working principals.

Core Broadcast Skills

An understanding of broadcast technology, signals and infrastructure
Camera technology and image formats
Audio principals and practice
Video codecs and file formats
Film and Drama working practices

Core IT Skills

PC Workstation, Mac and Server Hardware
Familiar with Windows 10 and Mac OSX
Basic understanding of IP networking and routing principals


Good client facing communications skills
The role is normally Monday – Friday but must be willing to work some additional irregular hours
Calm under the pressure of a film and drama creative environment
Awareness of health and safety practises including PAT testing


At least 2 years’ experience of engineering in a post-production environment.
