Full time Operator / Media Management / MCR / TX

Job Description

This is a hands-on role, co-ordinating resources to meet client needs and supporting Encompass’ Event based business.

Role Summary
Location: Chiswick, London
Reporting To: Head of Live Events MCR
Hours of Work: Full-time shift work, rostered times to meet event requirements, averaging 80 hours over 14 days.

 

 

Role Purpose

To perform to a high technical and professional standard in the operational duties required within a busy Master/Satellite control room and to support the transmission area, machine room as required. 

 

Principal Responsibilities:

 

  • Signal routing, fibre & satellite transmissions and file transfer
  • Signal monitoring, implementation of escalation procedures and first line maintenance
  • Transcoding, Format and Standards conversion to meet service requirements
  • Providing front line support - acting upon client requests
  • Responding to queries and fault finding
  • Client liaison, bookings and traffic co-ordination, have a technical contribution to customer bookings requirements
  • Responsible for out of hours bookings and scheduling
  • Logging work detail for costing purposes; and reporting or escalating any issues where necessary
  • Contribute to Operational procedures and writing SOPs to meet customer requirements.

 

 

Knowledge & Experience:

 

  • Good understanding of baseband video, its associated artefacts and common faults
  • An understanding of MPEG4/MPEG2/ASI relating to fibre and satellite transmissions
  • An understanding of IP video streaming technology
  • A solid understanding of RF and satellite distribution
  • An understanding of Playout workflows, hyperdeck playout and DekTec an advantage
  • Previous experience of working within a hands-on MCR/Operations environment.
