Job Description

Seeking a Highly Skilled Colour Support Specialist with Expertise in Digital Intermediate Processes, Colour Space Standards, and Baselight Software to Join Our Dynamic Post-Production Team and Ensure the Delivery of High-Quality Graded Content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grade Matching and Client Interaction: Work closely with clients to match grades, ensuring consistency and quality. Potentially perform grading tasks when required
  • Technical Support for Colourists: Provide comprehensive support to colourists, addressing any technical queries that arise during the grading process
  • Training and Mentorship: Train and support junior members of the colour support team, sharing your expertise and helping them develop their skills
  • Colour Space Standards: Expertly navigate all colour space standards, applying the best methods to complete complex tasks and ensuring accurate colour representation
  • Baselight Operation: Operate Baselight and other DI/conforming software and hardware. This includes preparing, conforming, and syncing materials in advance of grading sessions
  • Pre-Grading Preparation: Prepare materials for grading by conforming and synch checking, ensuring that all elements are ready for seamless integration into the grading process
  • Support During Grading: Assist colourists during grading sessions by managing VFX shots, online fixes, GFX, and other necessary changes to the grading timelines, such as re-cuts
  • Material Management: Import and export materials between Baselight and other relevant systems, both internally and externally, ensuring a thorough understanding of technical requirements.
  • Deliverables Management: Produce and quality-check all necessary deliverables throughout the DI process, including DCDMs, DSMs, VAMs, NAMs, VDMs, and more
  • Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and fix any issues, flagging grade concerns to the colourist and other relevant team members as needed
  • Advanced File Processing: Undertake encoding, transcoding, and advanced file processing tasks to ensure materials meet required specifications
  • Client and Staff Sessions: Run screening and review sessions with clients or staff members in theatres or grading suites, ensuring smooth and professional presentations.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with staff, clients, and other stakeholders about all aspects of the role, providing clear updates on work progress and any issues.

 

Knowledge and Experience: 

  • 3 years' experience working in a high-end DI department
  • Proficiency in operating colour grading software, particularly Baselight
  • Excellent understanding of colour space standards and colour science
  • Experience in preparing, conforming, and synchronizing materials for grading
  • Ability to work with DI/conforming software and hardware
  • Knowledge of importing/exporting materials across various systems and suites
  • Experience working with clients during grading sessions, reviews, and screenings
  • Ability to manage client expectations and effectively communicate technical concepts
  • Excellent organisational skills, especially in managing multiple tasks and deliverables in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of precision and attention to detail, especially in monitoring quality and ensuring the accuracy of deliverables.
