Job Description

Roku is changing how the world watches TV

Roku is the #1 TV streaming platform in the US, and we’ve set our sights on powering every television in the world. Founded in 2002, Roku pioneered streaming to the TV. Our mission is to be the TV streaming platform that connects the entire TV ecosystem. We connect consumers to the content they love, enable content publishers to build and monetize large audiences, and provide advertisers unique capabilities to engage consumers.

From your first day at Roku, you'll make a valuable — and valued — contribution. We're a fast-growing public company where no one is a bystander. We offer you the opportunity to delight millions of TV streamers around the world, while gaining a variety of meaningful and valuable experiences across a variety of disciplines

About the role

Roku pioneered streaming to the TV and continues to innovate and lead the industry. While we are well-positioned to help shape the future of television and streaming media worldwide, continued success stems from our ability to find, engage, and hire the best technical talent from around the world.

As Roku grows, we are looking for a Tech Recruiting Manager to help lead our growing technical recruiting function. In this role, you will be a critical part of Roku’s ongoing growth and evolution as we continue to pioneer the streaming industry. This will entail developing and leading the recruiting strategy for our technical business units around the world. At the same time, you will be responsible for coaching and developing our recruiting staff and designing, implementing and optimizing selection processes focused on meeting business unit and corporate objectives. Because of our culture, we are looking for someone who is data driven, with a track record of innovative and effective recruiting and hiring execution resulting in clear, measurable business impact. This role will report to our Director of Global Technical Recruiting and will be located in either San Jose, Austin, Boston or New York (can work remotely until it’s safe to return to our offices).

What you’ll be doing

  • Leverage global experience to engage and partner with leadership on their growth strategies across Engineering functions to ensure we have the right staff to help us grow
  • Drive the implementation of high quality, high repeatability, volume hiring practices across the organization to keep costs low without negatively impacting candidate quality
  • Understand data associated with hiring success and provide KPIs to leadership to help them track their hiring performance
  • Work with TA leadership team to define/refine roles, objectives and performance metrics for Recruiters
  • Develop collaborative partnerships with HRBPs, Finance, business leaders and other key stakeholders
  • Enhance and reinforce a collaborative, engaged, team-oriented environment within the TA team with a focus on results
  • Design and launch consistent and repeatable recruitment processes which establish a uniform company image and employment brand worldwide.
  • Foster innovation in the customer experience by combining functional and operational knowledge in domains that relate to Recruiting and Onboarding.

We’re excited if you have these qualifications

  • The equivalent of 10 years’ experience in full cycle recruiting, with a focus on hiring for technical positions and a minimum of 5 years in a recruiting leadership role
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience
  • Strong influencing skills at all levels of the organization
  • Open, transparent leadership style with an emphasis on mentorship and developing alignment across the organization
  • A partnering, collaborative, communicative, continuous improvement perspective to be applied to cross functional, global problems
  • Must be well organized and possess strong problem-solving skills; able to manage several programs/priorities simultaneously
  • Must exhibit flexibility under pressure and demonstrated ability to produce results

Our unique culture

Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company’s success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We’re independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you’ll be part of a company that’s changing how the world watches TV.

We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn’t real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
