Player Delivery Manager, RTÉ
 
RTÉ Player is Ireland’s biggest broadcaster streaming service and is available across all major platforms and devices.

Our goal is to provide a best-in-class live and on-demand streaming service that delivers on our PSM mission and meets the rapidly evolving habits and preferences of Irish audiences.

We are looking for a smart, dynamic Product Delivery Manager to join our RTÉ Player team.  
 
Reporting to the Head of RTÉ Player, the RTÉ Player Product Delivery Manager will be responsible for the planning and delivery of our service across live and on-demand. 

We work in a creative department that is audience and data driven, and our focus is developing and growing a uniquely Irish streaming service for our diverse audiences through collaboration with colleagues across RTÉ.

Responsibilities of the role

Management of resources and roster on the RTÉ Player Product Delivery team and maintaining key relationships with RTÉ Player Product team, RTÉ colleagues in Technology and Operations Teams, and external Partners. Fostering an open, inclusive, and constructive environment where team members can flourish, develop new skills & competencies, and can contribute to the delivery of our projects and goals for an always-improving user experience.
  • Co-Managing Strategy and Delivery of RTÉ Player Product and Project roadmap with Head of RTÉ Player and RTÉ Technology.
  • Managing plan and workflows on RTÉ Player change and feature requests.
  • Mapping impact of changes and releases on current systems and workflows.
  • Tracking actions, risks & issues, and managing blockers where they arise.

  • Identify new tools and systems that than improve or enhance works and outcomes.    
  • Managing customer communications: FAQs, platform and device supportability
  • Ensuring all stakeholders and teams are communicated with on new releases, projects in a timely manner.
  • Big event planning and resource management
Managing a rostered team across key deliverables:
  • 365, 7am-11pm Quality of Experience (QOE) on all RTÉ Player Products across all platforms ensuring the users’ experience is optimised by platform
  • Triage and escalation of technical issues, raising tickets to Technology team
  • Customer experience support and feedback
  • Escalation of issues to editorial, operations and rights teams
  • VoD Catalogue, curation and collection management and Quality Assessment
  • Management of Publishing workflows
  • Live IP channel planning and QoE across all products
  • International product management, QoE
  • User acceptance testing on new products, features
  • Product release management and communications
  • Managing 3rd party workflows (syndication, publishing and revoking as needed)
  • Publishing and curating content for Product Team (out of hours)
 The Key role criteria is as follows:
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience working with consumer-facing digital technology
  • Strong understanding of RTÉ’s PSM remit and values and ensuring that everything we do is aligned with that mission
  • Experience working with QoE technologies and systems
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tracks of work concurrently
  • Track record leading and delivering projects
  • Experience managing a product roadmap
  • Experience working with complex data
  • People management experience
  • Deep understanding of Irish Media Landscape
  • Experience in using multiple sources of data and ability to translate this into actions
  • A deep appreciation of how online experiences work across all platforms
  • To understand Agile Development and how team collaboration works within this
  • Knowledge of VoD platforms and the Streaming landscape
  • Knowledge of media rights landscape
  • Strong stakeholder management and communications skills
The post will be offered on the basis of an ongoing employment contract at Manager Grade 3 level.
