Technical Director / MSO

What You’ll Do
As a Technical Director your role will involve technical and production on-site and remote
based support across a number of events, most of which will be speaker/presentation led.
You will be primarily responsible for managing the creation and distribution of content via
multiple methods of outreach such as live streaming, online, pre-records for pr/marketing
etc. The role will also involve an aspect of post production support so proficiency working with
Adobe CC is also required within the role.

The ideal candidate should have a high technical background, proven track record of
successfully planning and delivering events, strong problem solving skills, quantifiable
leadership talents, exposure to installed audio-visual systems, and high level experience
within team and project management.

The Day-to-Day
● Working closely with Session Producer & Global Production teams on remote event
● Technical Direction & Vision Mixing across all assigned events.
● Owns the technical support lifecycle and is responsible for managing technical risks
throughout support planning and delivery.
● Communicates effectively to explain our services to technical and non-technical
clients as needed.
● Monitors assigned videoconferencing calls on end user’s event sites. Troubleshooting
as needed to satisfy the end user’s needs and escalate if necessary.
● Ensures that a balanced workload is triaged among technical staff, and notifies
Supervisor of high priority tasks or events.
● Assists users on using video conferencing systems before and during events.
● Takes on tasks in special projects or assignments as outlined by the supervisor and
executes them within the given timeline.
● Creates and executes technical plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing
needs and requirements.
● Keeps Global Production team well informed of status of event support efforts and
serves as liaison between project support teams and clients.
● Consistently delivers high-quality services to our clients.
● Attending team and client meetings as and when required.
● Keeps the wider production team well informed of changes and technical challenges.
● Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
● Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
● Assists with training of staff and improving their technical proficiency
What You’ll Need
● Minimum 7 years in a broadcast environment, with specific exposure to operating in a
gallery/programme control room setting
● Minimum 5 years of professional technical production experience acting in a
Technical Director (TD) capacity
● Experienced across a wide range VM technologies such as Blackmagic, Ross, Tricaster
(to name a few)
● Strong proficiency and understanding of Streaming Workflows
● Proficiency in using studio production equipment such as handheld cameras &
lighting techniques is preferred.
● Proficient in editing via Adobe CC
● Openness to experimenting with new ways of working and creating new workflows
that align to Engineering’s vision
● In depth technical knowledge of studio and gallery systems & processes
● Excellent interpersonal skills, including relationship building and collaboration within a
diverse, cross-functional team.
● A desire to learn and constantly improve
