About the Role

IMAX is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the SVP Finance Operations, this new role will assist the SVP Finance Operations in meeting the Finance team’s overall objective of being a best-in-class Finance organization and service provider to the rest of IMAX.

You’ll be integral in supporting improvements in both the efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance organization in order to provide world class service to business partners within IMAX.  We’re looking for someone who will help to investigate and resolve areas of inefficiency in order to optimize the effectiveness of the Finance team, including Accounting, Reporting, Tax, Treasury, Internal Audit and Financial Planning.

What You’ll Do:

  • Investigate and reconcile various general ledger accounts at a Company Code level, including creation of detailed process documentation.

  • Support various initiatives including amalgamations and closures of inactive wholly owned subsidiaries.  

  • Meet with various members of the Finance team on a regular basis to get updates and document progress on various enhancement initiatives that they have committed to completing, including helping raise issues up to the right level and removing roadblocks as identified.

  • Fill in short term as needed for staffing gaps due to departures.  This may include documentation prior to departures, stepping in to support on transition, reconciliations, or reviews as needed until replacements are found.  This will give a unique opportunity to learn almost all aspects of Finance from a hands-on perspective over a short period of time.

What You’ll Need:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in Financial Systems Analysis, Process Improvements or equivalent

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience

  • Completion of CPA designation

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong collaborative relationships with cross-functional partners

  • Proficient knowledge in financial business processes

Nice to Have:

  • Expertise in SAP is an asset

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment

  • Strong communication skills, both spoken and written

  • Resilient, self-motivate with an intense desire to learn

  • Knowledge of SAP is an asset
