DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Technology department is charged with establishing, monitoring and maintaining information technology systems and services to enable business users to carry out their roles efficiently, productively and securely.  The department must stay at the forefront of technology change in order to meet multiple business requirements, provide secure IT infrastructure and proactively support C4 strategic growth opportunities.

JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Technical Delivery Manager, the Technical Delivery Lead is responsible for providing technical oversight of the project roadmap items that are required for the mobile, dotcom and big screen devices clients of the All 4 video streaming platform.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for technical oversight of deliverables working in close partnership with suppliers and architecture team
  • Through collaboration agree high level technical solutions and raise any exceptions to the agreed solution architecture 
  • Oversee technical delivery activity to ensure implementations are in line with agreed solution designs
  • Monitor and evaluate technology trends and provide technical insight and guidance
  • Provide Channel 4 technical standards, policies and processes for supplier adherence
  • Where there are multiple teams and interdependencies with other C4 teams, work with architecture and technical leads from these areas alongside supplier to agree overall solutions 
  • Act as escalation point for supplier technical teams
  • Manage technical risks, issues and dependencies and resolve these/escalate as appropriate
  • Provide visibility of the wider technical picture in the All 4 or other programme areas and C4 domains to external suppliers providing context to key decisions
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Technical & Professional Skills
  • Experience in one or more client platform technologies: Mobile applications (iOS/Android), Web Applications (React, Node.js) , Big Screen Device Applications such as TVs, Set-top boxes or games consoles
  • Up-to date with industry standard tools
  • Demonstrable experience in Technical Lead/Lead developer capacity
  • Comes from a hands-on development background 
  • Experience in solution design
  • A background in Agile delivery
  • Exposure to Devops/Devsecops practices
Autonomy/Judgement/Decision Making
  • Self-starter who works independently with excellent decision-making skills
Leadership
  • Demonstrable experience of team leadership
Relationship Management
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to those from a non-technical background
Complexity/Problem Solving
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines across a complex and varied business domain
Business Impact/Strategic Perspective
  • An interest in working for Channel 4 and an understanding of its core values and remit
