Job Description:

About the Role:

IMAX is seeking a dynamic Sr. Director, Social Media to lead the global social strategy shaping the conversation around the IMAX brand and driving growth across all of our social channels including IG, FB, X, and Tik Tok. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader capable of developing and executing buzzworthy social campaigns and activations that meet stakeholder expectations and drive ongoing engagement with our active community of fans.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop robust social campaigns for the IMAX brand, Filmed for IMAX studio films, original content, documentaries and local language titles.
  • Lead the content creation strategy across both internal marketing partners and external studios, filmmakers, creative talent and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement a growth plan for all of our platforms, focusing on content optimization through paid and organic media, as well as a strategies to continuously drive fan engagement.
  • Manage the global social media budgets including paid media, content creation and all agency expenses.
  • Oversee a team of social media professionals, and external social media agency inclusive of day-to-day channel management.  
  • Develop strong relationships with studios and exhibition partners and collaborate across all areas of the marketing, new business development, corp communications, PR and other relevant departments to amplify IMAX’s reach and impact.
  • Utilize analytics to inform strategies, measure performance and identify growth opportunities to maximize budgets.
  • Be the subject matter expert for all social platforms and social tools globally, driving leadership and new ideas, consistently staying up to date on the latest innovations and best practices in social media.

What You’ll Need:

  • 10+ years experience in social media marketing, managing social media accounts for entertainment (film or television).
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field
  • Innovative and creative thinker who can both develop a strong vision and operationalize it.
  • High aesthetic standards and creative judgment and understanding of how to story-tell on social media.
  • Strategic thinker who can identify and understand the short and long-term goals of the organization and leverage and grow our social footprint to achieve those goals.
  • An expert social marketer with a passion for creating compelling, relevant content that drive fan engagement.
  • A strong leader with the proven ability to manage multiple people, projects, and priorities with a collaborative approach to working in fast-paced environments at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent knowledge of social media landscape and global social media platforms.
  • Extreme attention to detail with relentlessly high standards and project management skills.
  • Passion for the entertainment industry and knowledge in pop culture, social platforms and influencer talent.
  • Strong communications skills and ability to work cross-functionally with ease.
  • Ability to work under pressure, nimble, quickly adapt to strategy pivots and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

HR: This role is required to be onsite in Playa Vista 5 days a week.
