Job Description

Sky Media are looking for a Director of Insight and Research to run the Measurement, Insight and Effectiveness teams who support Sky Media’s market leading position in the UK.  The Director of Insight and Research will be responsible for leading a team of 27, with a focus on developing our cross-platform measurement, and supporting the industry JICs (Joint Industry Currencies), like Barb.


The Role

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision around the future of measurement, supporting Sky Media’s MD in setting our strategy and goals for measurement
  • Oversee the strategy for Sky Media’s participation in industry currencies  like Barb, providing a balance between innovation and support for existing capabilities
  • Represent Sky on the Barb Management and Strategy Boards, as well as all associated sub-committees
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities to help Sky Media succeed through measurement innovation and thought leadership
  • Run Sky Media’s effectiveness programme for all platforms including adsmart, digital and VOD.
  • Lead a team of experienced market researchers and data scientists to deliver best in class outcomes and solutions
  • Mentor heads of teams and their direct reports for optimal performance, setting high performing teams up for success
  • Efficiently run a budget line of xm and identify opportunities to control costs
  • Communicate and update  Sky Media’s partner channels on measurement changes and innovation
  • Work effectively with other Sky teams specifically Marketing, Product, Data, Finance and Sales teams to pursue and deliver a shared vision and goals

Qualifications and Experience:

Must Haves

  • Has managed teams of similar size and complexity
  • 10 years + experience of (television) audience measurement
  • Experience of working with research panels alongside first party data integration
  • Knowledge of audience measurement analytics and software solutions
  • Track record of working with people based measurement solutions as well as return path data or census datasets
  • Experience of managing B2B contractor relationships
  • Excellent communication skills, and experience of presenting to senior leadership teams,  with an ability to simplify complex messages and principles
