JOB SUMMARY

Avid is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented GitLab Administrator - DevOps Engineer to join the Shared Services SCM team. This candidate will play a key role in ensuring that Avid’s gitlab servers stay healthy for Development and Continuous Delivery.  The responsibility of this position is to maintain and administer Gitlab servers that help deliver our source code to multiple workflows for multiple Avid product teams. The candidate will bring in new ideas on how we can improve our servers and keep a good health on our current instances. The Administrator will be responsible for the uptime of the gitlab environment as well as for configuring and extending gitlab to meet specific system requirements. The Gitlab administrator is expected to be a subject matter expert in Gitlab configuration, administration and troubleshooting.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Administer and configure gitlab enterprise application.

  • Perform updates of Gitlab to keep up with new changes in software

  • Understand proper usage of Gitlab CI/CD

  • Solves problems of medium complexity that will have an impact to the business

  • Works independently and leverages their manager for feedback on critical problems

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related IT discipline; or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience as a configuration management professional of which at least 2 years should be in supporting Gitlab.

  • Knowledge of Windows, Mac, and Linux Operating Systems

  • Experience with Git

  • Expert in most advanced topics (e.g. LDAP, Jenkins/CI integration, Geo) including Gitlab CI/CD runners and pipelines

  • Deep understanding of GitLab internals and a variety of possible configurations

  • Ability to thrive in a fully remote organization

  • Exceptional time management and prioritization skills, resilient under pressure.

  • Exhibit strong security and confidentiality practices with systems that handle sensitive data.

  • Fluent in English
