Reporting to Senior Vice President, Localization Operations

Main Duties

As a Head of APAC Production, you will be overseeing a group of highly skilled linguists responsible for providing quality control and quality monitoring of our subtitle deliverables. In this role, you will be instrumental in establishing the foundational team as well as determining the strategy and execution of highest quality standards. Your primary focus will be to respond to the market needs by evaluating the business opportunities and designing cost-efficient and scaled solutions. You will regularly review and evaluate workflows, standard operating procedures, propose, and implement necessary changes to maximize time to market and/or productivity gains. You will monitor and manage the various operational KPI performance data, oversee process improvements and implementation of corrective actions. Through your passion for collaboration, you will build and maintain strong relationships with strategic global partners and cross-functional global stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Establish functional organizational structure for the In-house Linguistic Program for the APAC region.
  • Recruit, onboard and train foundational team members.
  • Establish Standard Operating Procedures for the regional team.
  • Oversee a team of in-house Linguistic Leads for the APAC region.
  • Own linguistic quality strategy for the APAC region. Establish program KPIs, monitor and report on KPI progress to the Executive team.
  • Support linguistic quality program for existing and new clients with a special focus on regional initiatives that require territory expertise and in-time zone collaboration with client contacts. Collaborate with global colleagues and cross functional leads to fully execute on client needs and expectations.
  • Develop and monitor goals, progress, and obstacles for our key regional subtitling initiatives.
  • Determine and effectively manage the needs for internal and external resource allocation required for maximum efficient productivity.
  • Provide direction and necessary support to the teams needed to execute on subtitling projects.
  • Draft, implement, and revise operational policies and guidelines for the organization ensuring industry best practices are followed.
  • In collaboration with global department leads, design sustainable processes for ensuring that standard operating procedures are carried out properly. Define and make recommendations for support staff responsible to maintain processes and procedures throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with the Training Team to establish best-in-class subtitling training program and assist in the global implementation of the training.
  • Capture and define industry best practices as it relates to region-specific content creative strategies, cultural awareness of territory nuances, and physical production. Collaborate with the Training Team to create and publish internal subtitling guidelines that support a streamlined global approach to subtitling procedures at Deluxe.
  • Collaborate with global production leads to monitor and manage operational KPI performance data.
  • Provide escalation support to production bottlenecks, quality breakdowns, staff issues.
  • Respond to Client Services or direct Customer escalations. Oversee root cause analyses for such escalations and ensure customers receive timely and professional responses.
  • Working with the human resources department, develop and implement staff evaluations.
  • Lead teams with integrity and establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment.
  • Represent Deluxe in a positive, professional, and innovative manner through participation in industry groups and events.

Qualifications and Key Competencies:

  • BA/MA Degree in Linguistics, Communication, Production or Post Production Studies or applicable equivalent experience
  • 10+ years experience in managing complex, large scale projects within localization, with emphasis on subtitling workflows
  • Experience and expert knowledge of various localization workflows with emphasis on subtitling for all media & entertainment distribution channels
  • Experience in managing in-house teams as well as distributed workforce
  • The ability to engage with and motivate culturally diverse, distributed team
  • Exceptional communication skills across all levels (verbal, written)
  • An attraction to applying deep critical thinking on difficult problems
  • The ability to clearly communicate technical workflows and processes to non-technical audiences
  • The ability to identify and effectively communicate business requirements to software development teams
  • The ability to identify risks and effectively manage activities to minimize impact
