Executive Producer

  • Moonriver TV
  • London, UK
  • 10/09/2021
Full time Producer / Production

Job Description

Moonriver TV is looking for a creative, dynamic and strategically focused Executive Producer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a dynamic and fast-growing British production company with a global outlook.

The Executive Producer will take a lead role in driving specific projects on the Moonriver slate, carrying them through from pitch to greenlight to production and delivery. With a focus on selling shows to broadcasters, this is an opportunity for an ambitious executive currently working in sales, distribution, acquisitions or production to make their first step into an EP role.

The right candidate will have a comprehensive and proven understanding of the TV drama landscape, and will ideally bring with them a network of links to commissioners and financiers, having either already executive produced or be looking to step up into this role. They will have excellent pitching skills, and a finely-tuned ability to communicate with writers, directors and other creative talent as well as with commissioners. They will be resilient, driven and passionate about their work.

Moonriver is a small team with big ambitions and the Executive Producer will be expected to collaborate across the slate, to support the more junior team members, and to commit to the company’s values. A flexible and ‘can-do’ attitude is essential.

Moonriver is an inclusive employer. We value difference and recruit by merit based on fair and open competition. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds, and are particularly keen to hear from candidates who identify as being from groups who are currently under-represented on screen or behind the camera.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a minimum of five years experience in scripted television;
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the TV drama landscape, and have established contacts and commercial relationships with commissioners in the UK and/or internationally;
  • Be highly strategic with first-class communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Have demonstrable experience in pitching and supporting a TV project from development through to commission and production;
  • Be commercially aware, with a familiarity with legal and contractual issues relating to commissioning, optioning and financing high-end television;
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to work independently and proactively but also as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the CEO and existing Moonriver Executive Producer to identify a business strategy for each project on the Moonriver slate;
  • Cultivate relationships with broadcasters, financiers and talent in the UK and international television industries;
  • Pitch shows to broadcasters and financiers, secure and negotiate commissions;
  • Secure production financing for projects on Moonriver’s slate, including financing from international co-production, pre-sales, tax credits and soft money funds;
  • Oversee the journey of projects from script to screen, including managing legal, financial and marketing aspects of the show;
  • Work closely with the development team to identify new projects and talent and to ensure that all creative materials are targeted towards the most suitable buyers for each show;
  • Provide mentoring for the team co-ordinator and new members of staff;
  • International travel to TV festivals, markets and conferences.
