Job Description:
Join the Metaphysic team and become an integral part of our infrastructure crew, contributing to the development and maintenance of cutting-edge automation experiences, self-service solutions, and top-tier enterprise computing that drives our operations. We're seeking a skilled Linux IT specialist who is not only highly motivated but also capable of deploying solutions independently and collaborating closely with our Head of Infrastructure, project managers, and other team members.
Location: North America/Europe (Remote)
Responsibilities:
- Keep a keen eye on our infrastructure, especially Linux servers (think Ubuntu, Rocky, Redhat, Debian) in our Data Centers.
- Watch those key performance metrics for servers, VMs, applications, and networks.
- If you run into any software hiccups during tasks, jot them down, and give our System Operations team a heads up when needed.
- Be the liaison with stakeholders, keeping them in the loop.
- Keep those tools and scripts humming along to automate tasks and support our self-service solutions.
- Always be on the lookout for ways to make things better, smoother, and more automated.
- Jump in and troubleshoot technical issues alongside the team.
- Share what you know with others – we're all in this together.
- Be ready to jump in with on-call support when projects need it - which includes weekends.
Job Requirements:
- You're into Linux and have experience tinkering with it.
- Ever played around with VMs and containers like KVM, LXC, Docker, or Podman? That's a plus!
- Familiar with Ansible? Awesome, that'll come in handy.
- Know your way around network, server, and system monitoring tools like Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus.
- Monitoring, Automation and deployment techniques are kind of your thing.
- You're pretty handy with at least one scripting language – think Ansible, Python, Bash, etc.
- You're a pro at juggling tasks, both on your own and as part of a team.
- And last but not least, excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
Bonus Points for:
- A Linux certification (LPIC or COMPTIA for instance) or some solid training under your belt.
- A Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in computer science, engineering, or a relevant field.
- A problem-solving attitude with a highly collaborative team spirit.
- The ability to work 100% remotely with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- The unique ability to break down complex subjects into plain language.
- An insatiable motivation, always ready to go above and beyond.
- Willingness to present to developers and teams, do screencasts, and showcase your knowledge.
