What you'll do

Join our Technology Products team in a pivotal role as a Principal Engineer focused on our Virtual Data Centre (VDC) platform. Bringing to bear VMware's vRealize Automation, you will play a crucial role in providing self-service access to the platform for various Sky teams working on critical internal and customer-facing applications. This is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to the architecture, design, and implementation of large-scale Software-Defined Data Centers (SDDCs) across Europe.

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of large-scale SDDCs, contributing to the evolution of the Virtual Data Centre platform.
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams to integrate various offerings into a consumable catalogue of products.
• Drive technical excellence by providing leadership to a team of engineers across the UK.
• Deliver sophisticated technical projects into private clouds, ensuring effective communication of technical challenges and progress.
• Foster a culture of automation, security, and operational efficiency.

What you'll bring

• Proven ability to provide technical leadership to engineering teams.
• Passion for automation and crafting services that enable internal development teams to work towards their goals.
• Proficient in programming/scripting languages such as vRO JavaScript, Python, or PowerShell.
• Expertise in VMware vRealize Automation (vRA) and vRealize Orchestration (vRO).
• Knowledge of configuration management/IaaS toolsets like Ansible.
• Track record of delivering automation solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Experience with private-cloud solutions, preferably VMware or similar products.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and take ownership of issues to ensure customer success.

Preferred Experience:

• Familiarity with Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG).
• Knowledge of VMware NSX and VMware Sophisticated Load Balancing.
• Experience with Terraform or SaltStack.
• Exposure to continuous integration principles and tools such as Concourse, Jenkins, and CodeStream.
• Familiarity with Infoblox and IP management.
