About the Job/Role

This role is in our Data and Technology Group a small multi-country department focused on creating world-class content and metadata management, distribution, analytics & BI products, and services that are grounded in the needs, wants, and behaviours of our customers. We are experimentative, we make big and small changes, and we are motivated by the fact that everything we do has the potential to be impactful.

We are a multi-function department covering Data analytics, Data Science, Product Management, and Engineering (including Software, Media, Workflow and Platform disciplines). This role reports to the Head of Data and closely collaborates with the Lead Engineers and Lead data Scientist on defining solutions for business problems and then supporting the Data analytical discipline in achieving the required outcomes. The Data Platform Lead is a key role and ensures delivery outcomes against priorities, enabling customers to create and derive valuable insights to make informed decisions. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Output-level leadership of the Data Analytics and Data Engineering skillsets. Management of BI Platform and enabling customer lead development and self-service initiatives.
  • Overseeing the administration of the data platform, including controls, governance & security management etc.
  • Responsibility for maintaining the integrity of our data, including meta and master data updates.
  • Oversight and accountability for platform monitoring and issue management. 
  • Accountable for service performance and data quality.
  • Supporting the prioritisation process through evaluation and recommendations on approaches to developing new functionality, understanding feasibility and dependency mapping.
  • Responsible for the delivery of all products and projects within the Data Platform Team.
  •  Collaborate with Engineering and other DTG areas on outcomes and ensure the defined Standards and Best Practices are maintained.
  • Creating a Data Community across WildBrain to help colleagues "self-serve" and guide new functionality deliverables.

Essential

  • Experience in data product development (MI/BI) and continuous improvement with a proven track record of successfully implementing data projects, and managing large, complex projects in a development environment with multi-function teams.
  • Hands-on experience with GCP (incl. GCS & DataForm) with SQL data warehousing, ideally with some exposure to and experience of Python 
  • Experience in leading teams; leading daily stand-ups, coordinating development activity and monitoring progress. 
  • Previous experience of leadership to development teams and being able to evaluate complex delivery risks and issues accurately and objectively.
  • Previous experience of mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team-building.
  • Previous experience of Stakeholder Management at various levels within an organisation.
  • Demonstrable analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands.

Desirable

  • Experience in GCP-based data engineering – with experience orchestrating and governing data pipelines, integration, data modelling, release management etc. 
  • Previous experience with handling media data & and complex data management regulations.
  • Ability to collaborate with customers and develop initiatives and solutions of high business value.
