We're looking for a Front-end Developer with React Experience.


Frieze is a media and events company with offices in London, New York and Berlin that comprises three publications, frieze magazine, Frieze Masters Magazine and Frieze Week; seven international art fairs, Frieze London, Frieze Masters, Frieze LA, Frieze New York, Frieze Seoul, and the newly acquired fairs Expo Chicago and The Armory Show; and – the definitive resource for contemporary art and culture, with digital subscription membership products and accompanying mobile app. In addition, we have a permanent exhibition space at No.9 Cork Street, a hub for visiting international galleries in the heart of Mayfair, London. 


Frieze is part of the IMG within the IMG Events and On Location division. IMG is a global leader in sports, fashion, events and media, a subsidiary of Endeavor, a global entertainment, sports and content company. 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities 

The Digital Team’s main responsibilities are for the website, our iOS and Android Fair and Member Benefits mobile application, the company’s web-based CRM application, our Membership platform and our Online Viewing Room. We are also responsible for building and maintaining a suite of B2B fair management web applications, including our fair timeslot booking and ticketing products. 


The Full Stack Developer is a core member of the Digital Team, reporting to the Senior Developer and working alongside other Developers, Product and Project management, and the Data and Insights team also within the directorate. You will be helping us innovate and drive change, finding and architecting business-critical digital and technical solutions for all areas of the business. 


Main Responsibilities: 

  • Creating stable, scalable and flexible digital products across all business units in a wide range of technologies, as well as maintaining and iteratively improving our existing infrastructure 

  • Working in a fast-paced, agile environment, managed by our Digital Product Manager and Digital Programme Manager 

  • Helping to maintain and improve our development and hosting platforms, processes and pipelines 

  • Researching and experimenting with new technologies and products, with the goal to always seek new and better ways to solve our problems 


Knowledge and Experience 

  • At least 3 years’ real-world experience developing, hosting and maintaining websites and building mobile applications using a wide range of modern and standard frameworks and approaches 

  • A portfolio of work or previous projects which demonstrate the required skills and abilities 

  • Experience in collaborating with 3rd party web development agencies and contract developers 

Skills and Abilities 


  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and experience in a range of web and mobile technologies, specifically React.js

  • Good experience of building and consuming REST-based APIs 

  • Strong understanding of HTML, JavaScript (including jQuery) and CSS (including SASS or similar) 

  • Knowledge of SQL-based databases, such as MySQL and Postgres 

  • Firm grasp of version control concepts and best practices, such as Git 

  • Ability and experience in troubleshooting complex applications and integrations 


  • Some experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB 

  • Experience in configuring cloud-based hosting environments such as AWS and Heroku but equally, you should also have a good understanding of traditional web hosting technologies (Linux, Apache, MySQL, etc) 

  • An appreciation of what makes a good, accessible UI/UX and an ability to implement it 

  • A good knowledge and appreciation of the command line 



  • Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment, with an adaptable, pragmatic and collaborative attitude to work where team performance and the right outcome for the business are paramount 

  • A passion for quality, a deep curiosity about everything and a natural attention to every detail 

  • A strong visual awareness and a flair for visual design and good user experience 

  • A continued desire to learn new products, tools and techniques and a keenness to share experiences 

  • Highly effective at making yourself understood and in understanding others, verbally and in writing, willing and able to discuss technical topics with non-technical colleagues 

  • Positive and energetic, comfortable with the occasionally demanding challenges of putting together live events where time pressures are critical
