We have an exciting opportunity for a Video Editor to join the Social AVOD team.
This role will report into a social media manager sitting within the Social & Online team, supporting video editing needs across all brands and platforms with a focus on our VOD service, UKTV Play.
A typical day might include watching a UKTV Original show (such as Annika, Bangers & Cash, Meet the Richardsons or Murder, They Hope) and using your proven understanding of social platforms and formats across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and YouTube to pick out and edit video content which you think would resonate best with our audiences.
You could be working with famous faces on set for a video campaign or collaborating with the wider team to brainstorm social campaign ideas that will launch a shiny new show.
All of your work will contribute towards the growth of UKTV’s social presence, creating attention grabbing, high dwell time content to deliver on our ambitious view targets.
In this role you will get to:

- Utilise your self-shooting skills and creative flair to produce stand out social media content that drives views and engagement
- Feed into the content planning process for campaigns, feeding in what works and what doesn’t to optimise future edits
Responsibilities / Role Specification:
Job role:
- Source, research and create best in class video content across multiple social media platforms, according to briefs set by social media managers
- Lead across assorted social video projects and campaigns and support the rest of the social media team
- Support channel strategy and objectives by delivering social media video in line with brand guidelines, platform best practices and legal compliance
- Contribute ideas for new social video formats when time with talent is available
- Support the social team and occasionally lead on-location shoots, including use of audio and camera equipment
- Implement learnings from the performance of previous videos to inform future output
Experience:
- Proven experience editing and packaging video assets for social media platforms using Premiere Pro and After Effects (please include viewable examples in your application)
- A clear knowledge of platform specific best practices
- A demonstrated history of successfully working in teams
- Experience with camera and audio equipment, a confident self-shooter
- Experience working with talent a plus
- A strong understanding of channel management tools like Meta’s creator studio
Knowledge:
- A digital native with a proven understanding of social media features, what drives high retention on social platforms, best practices and trends
- A genuine passion for TV and how social media can connect with audiences
Skills:
- Proficiency in Adobe CC Suite – especially Premiere Pro and Photoshop with After Effects an advantage
- Excellent communicator and team player who is highly organised and able to manage their own workload to deliver on tight deadlines
- Strong attention to detail, with a keen eye on editorial to turn episodic content into platform specific social video
- Excellent grammar and spelling
- Proactive and flexible approach to work, comfortable with a dynamic environment with constantly changing priorities
- Camera manning & filming experience an advantage
Who you are:
We’re looking for someone who has experience in knowing what makes a great piece of video on social media.
You’ll be comfortable working with a range of teams and individuals, and have the communication skills to collaborate effectively, influence with impact and represent the social team across the business.
You’ll be passionate about story-telling, engaging audiences and have the ability to watch an episode of a programme and know which moment will drive high engagement and retention.
You’ll have a strong understanding of social media especially Tik Tok, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and all its features to create a destination where our audiences will want to spend time with us.
You’ll love editing video for social media and be a proactive self-starter… ready to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in!
