UKTV is looking for a Head of Social Media to join our award-winning social and online team.
 
This role will lead a team of 8, overseeing all organic social media publishing across the network, driving best in class content, conversation and community engagement to drive views and engagements targets. This role will also have personal ownership and responsibility for the social media strategy and output for our VOD service, UKTV Play; setting a vision and working with the UKTV Play social media manager, relevant channel managers and wider marcomms team to translate the brand strategy into an actionable social media strategy.
 
As well as always on organic social content and conversation, the role will also oversee the development of innovative and effective social media campaign strategies for all UKTV brands, helping drive awareness and consideration for new audiences, as well as drive retention and fandom with existing. This will require collaboration with the marketing team to ensure the paid social budget is working optimally to deliver on campaign objectives, as well as complimenting organic and earned acivity to ensure a holistic social media experience for audiences. 
 
This role will also oversee the day to day operations and running of the organic social media publishing team; ensuring the team is following compliance, editorial and escalation policies accordingly as well as ensuring the team is set up in a way that delivers optimal workflow.

We are looking for someone who has:
  • Experience in leading and motivating a social media team, with evidence of coaching and inspiring teams to produce best in class work 
  • Experience creating and implementing social strategies for brands, preferably for a business within the entertainment industry
  • Proven ability to grow social accounts & build communities  
  • A demonstrated understanding and evidence of delivering 360 campaigns, leveraging owned, earned and paid within social to drive impactful results
  • Experience and passion in the operational side of running a social media team, with best practice workflows, tools and platforms up your sleeve that can elevate the way the team work
  • Attention to detail and great editorial judgement: you know when a social media post is appropriate in the context of our audience, the cultural conversation and our internal policies 
 
Who you are:
  • You will have experience in leading and motivating a social media team, and be passionate about leading, coaching and inspiring people and teams around you to produce best in class work.
  • You will have experience and passion in the operational side of running a social media team, with best practice workflows, tools and platforms up your sleeve that can elevate the way the team work
  • You will live and breathe social media and know the ins and outs about its role in delivering business results, specifically an understanding of how audiences use and interact with social media as well as a high degree of online literacy, fully conversant with the social landscape to inform business judgements and decisions. 
  • You are a strategic thinker and will have experience collaborating with other marcomms functions to create integrated, joined up 360 campaigns, knowing what levers to pull and when across organic, earned and paid areas to drive campaign objectives & brand goals. You will have experience in paid social marketing to drive brand goals & acquisitions objectives.
  • You are also a strong storyteller, with a flair for putting forward innovative ideas that secure business buy-in, pushing our brands in interesting ways to create memorable social media experiences. You believe in the power of social media and have strong evidence of the ability to influence at peer level and above.
  • You understand the art and science of social media – you use data and insight to inform activity but also balance this with strong gut feel. You have a strong editorial eye and strong audience understanding of what ideas could fly. Community and audience sit at the heart of everything you do.
  • You are organised, analytic and have the ability to plan work and schedules to effectively meet critical deadlines with keen attention to detail. You will be well versed in social media management platforms and analytics tools including native platforms & third party ones such as Falcon, Brandwatch and Tubular. 
  • You will have experience within the entertainment industry (of all kinds including music, movies, telly, sports etc.). Experience devising social strategies for a digital product is a plus
