Job Description

From the World Cup to the Olympic Games via the FA Cup and Wimbledon, Picture Shop works with the BBC in covering some of the world's biggest sporting events. We require someone to be part of the team which makes that happen. You'll be an integral member of our Salford operation in MediaCityUK and will work with the team to deliver first class broadcast operations for BBC Sport. 

The role requires an excellent communicator who can not only manage the day-to-day duties but will also focus on the upcoming months ensuring the correct resources and workflows are in place. 

Roles and Responsibilities

·        Part of support team contact for mobile units at base and on location, including out of hours/remote support and troubleshooting

·        Understanding of new and emerging technologies and how these may be applied within media technology projects and products.

·        Be the go to for IP workflows across BBC Sport. Interacting with other IP Teams around the BBC and the Industry to ensure knowledge and skills base is up to date.

·        Rig, support and troubleshooting of larger IP set-ups at Sporting events around the UK and overseas if required.

·        Regular structured communication with the Picture Shop and BBC Technical Managers.

·        Contributing to the development and design of IP systems within the BBC / Picture Shop

·        Work closely with the Picture Shop Sport Planning team, creating and providing weekly planning information,  ensuring all documentation is kept up to date and shared in a clear and timely fashion.

·        Provide support to other operational areas around Picture Shop around IP Technology

·        Point of liaison for IP workflows with BBC Engineering and Senior Sport staff

·        Building and maintaining relationships with third party suppliers and hardware manufacturers

·        Document and distribute IP workflows to the Technical Managers

·        Act as support to the Sports Planning Coordinator

Key Skills & Attributes

·        Knowledge of TV broadcast IP workflows

·        Previous experience of working in a live broadcast environment

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·        Experience of troubleshooting and diagnosing defects in complex systems

·        Broad technical knowledge, including understanding of complex systems built from separate components.

Contract details

Hours of work – 40 hours per week (usually 4 x 10 hour shifts per week) and will include weekends, evenings and bank holidays

Salary: Dependent on experience
