Camera Prep Technicians are one of the first vital steps in the making of any film or television production. Camera Prep Technician Apprentices work in the media rental industries including the camera hire companies who supply camera equipment for Film, TV, Music Promos, Commercials, Documentaries, Virals, and all sorts of productions. Apprentices learn how to prepare camera equipment that is complete, works effectively, is correctly maintained and is set up and has all accessories to be ready to use on a production or event.
This is a new entry route into the screen industry developed by VMI and a trailblazer group of Media Rental Companies, and is a paid 2-year vocational qualification. Apprentices spend most of their time at work and the equivalent of one day a week studying at London Screen Academy, Islington for 2 years. At the end of their formal training period successful apprentices will have gained an industry recognised qualification and 2 years’ experience working with a leading employer.
Qualifications and Suitability for the role
The Camera Prep Technician Apprenticeship is specifically aimed at 16-19 year-old school leavers, and other adults who are looking for a change of career. If you’ve already got GCSE English and Maths you’re well set. If you’re waiting on your results, tell us what your predicted grades are when you apply. The apprenticeship is equivalent to a Level 3 qualification like A Levels or Extended Diplomas, BTECs, etc.
