DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

All 4 is Channel 4’s video-on-demand proposition, home to original and exclusive shows, box sets of iconic series, as well as live and catch-up TV from C4’s broadcast channels.

Available as an app on over 20 different platforms including mobiles, tablets, PCs, smart TVs, and games consoles, as well as being syndicated to the likes of Sky and Virgin. All 4 reaches 3.5 million weekly viewers and has more than two thirds of all 16-34s in the UK as registered users.
The All 4 team is responsible for creating the best possible user experience on owned-and-operated platforms, one that is both seamless and engaging, and that encourages visitors to become viewers, to view more, and to return more often. 
All 4 Technology team are part of Marketing and Viewer Experiences, Technology and are responsible for delivering any change to how the viewer interacts with us by seeing, hearing and experiencing via digital and non-broadcast channels. The role is predominantly focussed on All 4 and will expand in scope as Channel 4 delivers on growth plans.

The Marketing and Viewer Experiences, Technology team is part of the wider Technology organisation. who owns, establish, monitors and maintains IT and broadcast systems and services to serve out TV and VoD viewers, and enable business users to carry out their roles efficiently, productively and securely. The department must stay at the forefront of technology change to meet multiple business requirements, provide secure IT infrastructure, and proactively support C4 strategic growth opportunities.

JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for a Business Analyst who has a passion to deliver consumer facing digital products. You have demonstrable experience (5 years plus) in supporting the analysis and development of large complex programmes, ideally within media, VoD and live streaming, in a complex multi-vendor environment. This role will be responsible for working with Product, Architecture, UX and Delivery engineering teams to grow and maintain the All 4 OTT service.

This role provides the analysis and requirements management to support product development of All 4. You will be the champion and the knowledge base for the product. You will build strong and sound relationships with internal teams and our external strategic partners building respect and trust. This role will focus on our All 4 platforms and in future could include other digital platforms.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with Product, Marketing, Broadcast, Content, Data and Operations to define and deliver new products and enhancements
  • Capture, analyse and document cross-platform business requirements to inform further functional analysis and requirements
  • Produce and manage user stories and acceptance criteria for the product and work with developers, designers and testers to deliver against them
  • Manage the backlog of user stories to meet product roadmap commitments
  • Attend and contribute as required to agile ceremonies
  • Use appropriate techniques to elicit requirements from stakeholders, both technical & non-technical
  • Ensure a consistent approach to requirements development and management using best practice
  • Advise key stakeholders on results of analysis including presenting options to enable appropriate decision-making
  • Work with the delivery team designer as part of refining and updating designs
  • Represent the product vision to the delivery team and communicate detail and complexity of requirements on day-to-day basis to team
  • Develop product knowledge to inform on future development
  • For specific projects, attend user-testing, analyse and prioritise findings to support deliverables
  • When appropriate, provide input into multivariate/usability testing
  • Document information models and external system interfaces that are within scope
  • Work with internal teams to detail screen and data flows as well as data structures
  • Work with the Project Managers to provide a breakdown of tasks and associated estimates to produce deliverables
  • Support the generation of estimates and tracking of discovery and analysis phase deliverables as part of the SAFe Scaled Agile methodology
  • Perform requirements verification, ensuring that requirement statements are complete, consistent, concise, traceable, verifiable, and conform to defined standards
  • Participate in reviews, showcases of developed products derived from the requirements
  • Participate in user acceptance testing and co-ordination and safeguard product quality
  • Reporting to the Project Manager and provide regular progress updates against tasks
  • Experience of implementing change in complex multi supplier eco system across live streaming and VoD
  • Owning and enhancing delivery and governance processes internally and externally and ensure all changes are passed through relevant quality gates and we deliver to industry best practice
  • Strong analytical and data skills to be able to take on project work and support team
Essential Experience and Skills:

  • Proven experience operating as a Business Analyst in software consumer product development
  • Experience of the full software development delivery lifecycle for technology projects from requirements and design through technical delivery to implementation
  • Highly organised and analytical with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communications skills, with the ability to present ideas verbally and in writing
  • Proven stakeholder management skills, with the acumen to be aware and act on any issues that need to be reported
  • Good facilitation skills and ability to judge when things need to be escalated
  • A self-starter with the ability to self-manage workload and prioritise deadlines
  • Can handle autonomy and be fully trusted to work to shared goals
  • Proven experience in managing across several concurrent projects and activities
  • An analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and focussed on getting things done
  • Able to break down complex activities into manageable activities and tasks
  • Creative with the ability to find innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Working closely with the Architect, Project Manager and Operations Manager to ensure alignment of priorities and have the right approach to deliver the change
  • Know how to trouble shoot complex problems to and deliver a successful resolution
  • Techniques for estimating, sizing and tracking projects delivered using an agile framework
  • Set up best practices to ensure we delivery quality outcomes
