Graduate Media Systems Engineer - Ealing

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic graduate to train for the role of Media Systems Specialist. The successful candidate will join the Timeline technology team at our broadcast facility in Ealing, London. In this role you will learn how to install, support and optimise the performance of EVS media servers, non-linear edit systems (HD and 4K UHD), media storage systems, file processing and file delivery facilities.

Programme Length

This an 18 month’ development programme including secondments to various engineering departments, giving you the opportunity to expand your knowledge and develop practical skills for an exciting and rewarding career in media systems engineering. As a Graduate Trainee, you can expect to put all the theory you have learnt at university into practice within an innovative organisation that will put you at the forefront of new and exciting developments in broadcast technology, and prepare you for long-term career.

Development and Learning Expectations

Supporting the effective operation of media systems and workflows at BT Sport, which involves the following:

• Monitoring and optimising the performance of media servers and storage systems, non-linear edit suites (Avid, Adobe), MAM systems and file processing delivery facilities
• Providing first line system support to address technical faults in a timely manner
• Escalating issues and communicating with vendor support as required
• Supporting users by preparing operating instructions and communicating changes
• Guiding editors, operators and production staff through complex operational scenarios
• Completing routine maintenance and regular system checks
• Supporting all media operations
• Evaluating new software and hardware
• Creating and documenting new media workflows
• Ensuring that business documentation and workflows are created and updated
• Working as part of a project team on new installations

Training

You will hit the ground running, working directly alongside our skilled engineers, getting hands-on experience on projects in outside broadcasts and studio productions for our major broadcast clients. After a full induction, we will also offer you a mix of internal and external training, and you will have access to your own mentor to support your career development.

About You

We don’t need you to have worked in a broadcasting or studio environment before but there are some key requirements:

• Logic, curiosity and exceptional reasoning skills are essential in a media systems environment so you should have a passion for technology and a talent for problem solving
• We require knowledge of IT and networking, and some experience of edit and replay systems will be highly regarded
• Everyone in the team has to deal directly with our clients, so strong written and verbal communication skills are required, as well as confidence in dealing with people at a range of different levels
• The ability to work well in a team environment with is essential.
• To be eligible, you should have a strong academic record and a degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline

Please note that this is a shift-based role and involves unsociable hours and weekend work.
