Molinare is a film and broadcast post production facility with over 48 years of experience and is now one of the most respected names in the industry, specialising in television drama, feature films, feature documentaries and broadcast factual.

Molinare began in 1973 with a small studio called Molinare Sound Services. Today, having expanded into the world of high-end broadcast and feature post production, they are in an exciting position of strength and growth, providing the most creative and technically advanced services achievable.

Job Purpose/Summary:

The job holder will be responsible for managing and leading the Colour Support department. The role currently has 6 direct reports.

The role ensures the Colour Support department is running efficiently at all times, not only preparing projects and turnovers across genres such as Feature Film, Feature Documentaries, Dramas and Comedies, but supporting and assisting our in-house colourists, ensuring they are able to deliver the best possible experience for our clients.

 The role as the Head of Colour Support will also be instrumental in working to design picture finishing workflows as well as implementing existing workflows, so projects and media flow through the facililty with industry standard best practices applied.

 The role is also responsible for appropriate management of the colour support team, working closely with Sales, inhouse Post Production Managers and HODs to understand technicalogical, scheduling and resouorce challenges and within current and upcoming projects.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

• Work with the Colour Support to ensure work is completed on time and to the highest standards.
• Recruitment, development and training the staff within the department.

• Monitor the workload in the assigned areas and ensure that preparations for future projects are put in place, this involves working closely with the Sales and the IT/Engineering support team.

• Dealing with internal and external client enquiries with Sales and Post Production Managers
• Testing and rolling out of new and current workflows to meet client / project specific delivery specifications.

• Gain an understanding of the project in advance by liaising – and attending meetings - with the Sales team, the Post Production Manager, relevant Molinare technical staff and relevant members of the production.

• Assist the Post Production Management team and scheduling teams to make sure resources are utilized correctly.
• Put commercial at the heart of the team and the business.
• Any other reasonable request

Knowledge and Experience

• A thorough understanding of post-production workflow and film post production technology.
• A good understanding of colour workflows from ingest to delivery (ACES, Rec709, Linear, LUT creation and application, etc.).
• A strong understanding of camera formats, resolutions, aspect ratios, frame rates and codecs.
• In-depth knowledge of Baselight software
• Good knowledge of DaVinci Resolve would be desirable
• Good knowledge of operating systems (Linxu, MacOS and Windows).
• Proficient at dealing with EDLs, XMLs and AAFs.
• Methodical, diligent and organised with great attention to detail.
• Fantastic problem solver, capable of working well under pressure keeping a friendly and positive attitude.
• Minimum 3 management experience ( Desirable)
• Minimum 4 years in DI/ Colour support experience ( Essential)
