Job Description

WildEarth Group is a 24-hour TV channel, producing and streaming live wildlife content to a global audience. We require a broadcast controller to manage all technical aspects of Mission Control. This includes the ingest of live feeds from our remote teams, director interfaces and controls and subsequent streaming to multiple platform partners and our Ono Apps.

 

The main responsibilities of the Broadcast Controller are set out below.

Ensure the delivery of a twenty four hour live channel

Technical responsibility for maintaining live production and delivery to platform partners

Implement processes, upgrades and technical refreshes for all broadcast systems

Manage a team of broadcast technicians 

Provide technical input to senior management

Understanding of network architecture fundamentals

Responsible for the creation of system information including; project plans (Gantts), drawings and schematics, Bills of Materials, etc.

Understanding of streaming technology and implementation Streaming technologies and protocols; HLS, SRT, CMAF, WebRTC, CDNs, Codecs (H.264 VP9), FFMpeg etc.

Digital Video content creation and distribution

OTT video delivery

Broadcast/OTT/Streaming experience

Exposure to VOD, CDN, AD insertion 

IP networking skills; Unicast, multicast, firewall technologies, etc.

Good understanding of broadcast systems and standards

The mission control is based in South Africa. The Broadcast Controller will manage things remotely from the UK but will be required to travel to South Africa at certain points.
