A little bit about our team
The continuity team are responsible for the creation and delivery of continuity to air. Continuity is a valuable marketing asset with an on air media inventory worth £7.6M per year. Continuity plays a crucial role at UKTV by conveying the personality of the brand and connecting directly with the viewers and fans of our shows. Continuity and Navigation¿s purpose is to ensure we retain our audiences with in the channel brand or brands, and maximise viewing, helping to drive network performance in both linear and VOD.
The continuity team is part of the media planning team, who are responsible for all of the on air promotional inventory across the UKTV network.  
Purpose of the role
The Continuity Producer is responsible for the production and delivery of UKTV¿s continuity across the full portfolio of UKTV brands. This includes the quality check (q.c.) process which is vital to ensuring continuity delivered is accurate, to tone and compliant. They will work closely with a team of announcer/writers and stakeholders.  They will also help to promote the role of Continuity and Navigation across the marcomms team.
The role reports to the Continuity Operations Manager, who leads the continuity team

¿         Manage the work and delivery of  a team of 10+ announcer writers . Guiding and supporting them through constructive feedback as needed to do their best work.
¿         Have responsibility for Continuity Production, which will include q.c and editing to ensure continuity is at it¿s best and accurate. 
¿         Manage the staff role of Continuity Production Co-ordinator, who supports this production process.  You¿ll be responsible for their development.   
¿         Work on projects on air and technical.  From stunts, to talent, to channel re-brands as well as operational,  and more as needed.   
¿         Work closely with the Continuity Operations Manager, Marketing, Creative, Media Planning, Presentation, Playout, The Farm and Compliance on these.  
We are looking for someone who has¿
-          A passion for continuity
-          Experience in producing and delivering end-to-end continuity services for a broadcaster or similar production eg promos
-          Experience in successful team management
-          An understanding of and experience with Ofcom and compliance regulations
-          A working knowledge of Barrcode and What¿s On and strong IT skills  
-          Experienced in handling audio files, editing and formatting for transmission.
-          Experience of successfully working within budgetary allocations, ensuring work requests remain within agreed budgets.

What you will do
Production and delivery of continuity service:
  • Key responsibility for the end-to-end continuity service, including production, delivery, and output 
  • Ensure continuity is delivered accurately and timely, to ensure a positive viewer experience across our channels
  • Be the lead team superuser of continuity operating system Barrcode and scheduling system What¿s On 
  • Along with the continuity production co-ordinator, ensure all operational and editorial system checks are completed, to ensure 100% accuracy
  • Complete data entry into multiple systems as required.
  • Complete audio checks, editing and formatting as required.   
  • Effectively manage schedule changes and unforeseen events, taking necessary action such as re-records, data checks, audio checks etc. with the support of the continuity production co-ordinator
  • With the support of the Continuity Operations Manager, take responsibility to ensure continuity production is within budget
  • Be motivated and proactive in identifying issues and offering solutions, working quickly to resolve issues
  • Be flexible to changing priorities and demands on continuity playout
  • Assist with creating the new live continuity set up and process (for ad-hoc stunts) and support testing this
  • Complete additional duties as required
 People management:
  • Manage and develop the continuity production coordinator to produce the best continuity for UKTV
  • Manage and guide a team of freelance announcers and writers to deliver compliant, accurate, editorially sound, and on-brief continuity in line with agreed timescale
  • Recruitment, training, and on-boarding for new UKTV continuity announcer writers, and any refresher training for existing UKTV announcer writers. 
  • Manage the payment of continuity announcer writers
  • Provide role cover for the Continuity Operations Manager and Continuity Production Coordinator when necessary 
 Voiceover management
  • Support the Continuity Production Coordinator in managing the announcer recording schedule, working closely with the Farm and creative team to in booking Farm facilities 
  • Support the Continuity Production Coordinator and relevant parties to ensure that recordings are complete and delivered to the playout system, all necessary checks, any changes, edits etc and communications are carried out.
  • Liaise with relevant parties to ensure that late recording requests, changes or missing items are resolved.
  • Be the key liaison for voiceover operational issues and queries, resolving them timely and accurately.
  • Complete editorial script checks as required. Ensuring scripts are on brief and compliant with editorial guidelines
  • Write voiceover scripts when necessary, in some cases for high profile talent.
  • Manage new announcer searches and casting process from original initial brief to on-air playout
  • Produce and direct talent voiceovers as and when required.  This can include remote recording, and recording off site with specialised kit as needed.
  • Ensure talent has a positive experience of working with UKTV
  • Be an out of hours/emergency contact for the continuity team
  • In ad hoc very special circumstances, be prepared to carry out voiceovers if necessary 
  • Once set up, occasional management, production and directing of live continuity as and when required  
  • Collaboration
  • Harness team spirit across UKTV by collaborating with colleagues across the business to deliver a successful on-going service
  • With the Continuity Operations Manager, regularly review continuity production with Media Planning (and channels as required) to ensure briefs are being delivered to expectations
  • Be across show launches, special projects, brand updates and launches, providing input around continuity production and delivering as required
  • Work with announcers to ensure tone is correct, providing constructive feedback as required
  • Assist with and provide guidance for the wider media planning team and other departs as needed
  • Ensure communication between stakeholders and key parties is timely, accurate, and informative
  • Assist the Continuity Operations Manager in exploring opportunities to further develop the in-house continuity service
