Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller who will be reporting to the board regarding all financial and accounting activities. This will include all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget, and forecast preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. Overseeing financial department staff in day-to-day operations.

Main Duties

  • Preparation of full profit and loss accounts for our trading entities
  • Manage cash flow by tracking transactions
  • Review and submit monthly results to Senior Management Team (SMT)
  • Manage direct reports (currently 6 team members) 2 senior accountants, AR, SL & payroll
  • Create the annual operating plan, with input from SMT
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual budgets including reviewing all financial plans/forecasts and budgets to look for cost reduction opportunities
  • Financial statement preparation
  • Prepare for statutory audits and tax returns including collaborating with auditing services to ensure compliance with all regulations
  • Take ownership of UK corporation tax compliance process
  • Responsible for impact assessments
  • Create, renew and update process documentation
  • Create and /or improve reporting processes
  • Identify unbilled project work
  • Create suitable operational performance measurement tools
  • Improve month end efficiency through creation of standardised and automated templates
  • Implement and/or review financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation
  • Present reports to the SMT on all financial information
  • Reporting to the Board

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Qualified accountant
  • Experience at a senior level within a SME
  • Management experience and leadership skills
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • An understanding of data privacy standards
  • Expert on excel
