All 4 is Channel 4’s video-on-demand proposition, home to original and exclusive shows, box sets of iconic series, as well as live and catch-up TV from C4’s broadcast channels. Available as an app on over 20 different platforms including mobiles, tablets, PCs, smart TVs, and games consoles, as well as being syndicated to the likes of Sky and Virgin.

All 4 reaches 3.5 million weekly viewers and has more than two thirds of all 16-34s in the UK as registered users.

The All 4 team is responsible for creating the best possible user experience on owned-and-operated platforms, one that is both seamless and engaging, and that encourages visitors to become viewers, to view more, and to return more often.  

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

All 4 Technology team are part of Marketing and Viewer Experiences, Technology and are responsible for delivering any change to how the viewer interacts with us by seeing, hearing and experiencing via digital and non-broadcast channels. The role is predominantly focussed on All 4 and will expand in scope as Channel 4 delivers on growth plans. 

The Marketing and Viewer Experiences, Technology team is part of the wider Technology organisation. who owns, establish, monitors and maintains IT and broadcast systems and services to serve out TV and VoD viewers, and enable business users to carry out their roles efficiently, productively and securely. The department must stay at the forefront of technology change to meet multiple business requirements, provide secure IT infrastructure, and proactively support C4 strategic growth opportunities.

JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for a Project Manager who has a passion to deliver consumer facing digital products. You have demonstrable experience (5 years plus) in managing large complex programmes within media ideally with live streaming and VoD in a complex multi-vendor environment. This role will be responsible for designing the programme governance and deliver projects from inception through to delivery to the highest industry standards. 

You will build strong and sound relationships with internal teams and our external strategic partners building respect and trust. This role will focus on big screen devices and in future could include other digital platforms.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design your programme structure based on the product strategy and roadmap
  • Ensure project governance is in place and there is clear documentation and how it works internally and with third parties 
  • Work closely with Product, Marketing, Broadcast, Content, Data and Operations to define and deliver new products and enhancements
  • Support the effective translation of business requirements into high quality solutions
  • Working closely with external third parties and setting out standards and principles on how we design and deliver change
  • Owning and enhancing delivery and governance processes internally and externally and ensure all changes are passed through relevant quality gates 
  • Experience of implementing change in complex multi supplier eco system across live streaming and VoD
  • Strong budget management against agreed scope
  • Experience in contractual management with partners and agreeing delivery models which meets the scope of the programme
  • Build a collaborative team culture, with a genuine interest and desire to coach, mentor and progress your team 
  • Represent and actively participate in the wider Channel 4 governance and PMO
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Relationship Management and Communications
  • A first-class collaborator, able to work closely with colleagues from any team or discipline and to flex their own role to suit a given situation.
  • Experience with stakeholder management, showing an ability to remain calm and neutral while managing conflict and using evidence-based arguments to resolve disputes.
  • Knows how to build strong relationships and looks for ‘win-win’ solutions
  • You explain technical concepts or problems clearly and concisely and present easy to read comms for audiences at all levels to understand

Delivery and Governance
  • A successful track record delivering product value in digital consumer products
  • Work closely with Product to understand product strategy, roadmap to effectively plan ahead
  • Managing the delivery of agile projects across the full lifecycle; from inception to delivery through to operational hand over and post implementation review
  • Experience delivering complex projects using an agile framework that may be with several (often distributed -including multi-country) teams, over several phases, and multiple stakeholder groups including third-party suppliers
  • Strong leadership skills to delivery successful outcomes 
  • Leading the definition, scoping and planning for a project, working closely with key roles such as Product, Marketing, Business Analysis, Architecture, Operations and the wider Channel 4 business 
  • Owning the project constraints, including budget, timescale, resource, scope, risk and quality parameters and responsible for monitoring, tracking and providing progress update
  • Know how to trouble shoot complex problems to and deliver a successful resolution
  • Excellent skills and knowledge of collaborative leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Techniques for estimating, sizing and tracking projects delivered using an agile framework
  • Budget management of programme costs and tracking 3rd party costs
  • Resource planning to know what is feasible to delivered within a certain period
  • A recognisable project management certification ideally in agile

  • Lead and motivate teams to deliver meaningful outcomes that meet Channel 4’s business needs
  • Able to build relationships virtually within Channel 4 and across multiple third party teams globally
  • Lead, coach and manage a team to be the best that they can be
