Job Description

Head of Lighting: We are looking for an experienced lighting director and lighting console operator to join our team as Head of Lighting as we prepare to launch Talk TV in 2022. This role will be a senior position and will oversee all aspects of studio lighting across a range of prime time shows including the new Piers Morgan global news and current affairs show.

As a senior member for the News UK Broadcast team:

  • You will work closely with the Head of studio output, senior directors and rest of the team to support the creative vision of the production

  • You will be responsible for all the lighting planning across all of our sites

  • Be the lead on all lighting and oversee the work of all lighting crew in the studio ensuring the highest standards are met

  • Liaise with internal and external suppliers and contractors to ensure our work complies with industry safety standards

  • Produce detailed and accurate lighting plots for our shows and manage their implementation in the studio 

  • Advise on the best and most cost efficient ways to achieve the creative vision 


What we are looking for from you: It is essential that you have a strong background in lighting with experience working on a variety of show formats including news and magazine. You will have expert level knowledge on all studio and OB lighting equipment and how these can be implemented to achieve different results. You will be proficient in using different lighting consoles including the Ion XE.

Piers Morgan, one of the most recognisable broadcasters in the world, is the first signing for talkTV and will deliver a prime time show which promises to be a fearless forum for lively debate and agenda-setting interviews. Drawing together world-class talent across News UK, talkTV will be broadcast from state-of-the-art studios at The News Building in London Bridge and available live or on-demand, on linear and connected TV and on any personal device.
