Full time Design Engineering Broadcast Engineering

Job Description

The BT Media and Broadcast design team provide the networking used by key broadcasters around the UK and worldwide. These include the BBC, ITV and Channel 4. If you’ve watched a Premier League football match or a Freeview channel, these use the BT Media transmission networks that you’ll be working on.

You’ll be designing bespoke end to end solutions - put together in a way that meets the unique needs of our customers to get their broadcast quality video from source to destination – e.g. this could be from a set of High Definition cameras in a Stadium to a production studio.

You'll have solid Cisco and/or Juniper network design skills, hand on and not unfamiliar with using test environments to build, refine and test layers 1, 2, 3 connectivity solutions. Experience of Multicast would be a real advantage. You'll likely have several Cisco or Juniper equivalent professional certifications - CCNA, CCNP, CCIE.

Organisationally, you'll be a senior member of a ~14 strong design team with ongoing & frequent collaboration with a wider team including colleagues from Product, Sales, Delivery, Operations, Software Control Systems and occasionally the end customers.

You'll be expected to help drive Transformation activities across the Business Unit – seeking positive outcomes from adoption of Agile methodologies and the automation of repeatable tasks. Coding and scripting skills would be an advantage.

You'll be a self starter, a lead contributor both individually and providing direction to others. You'll continually drive for outstanding customer experience, and engender and lead an absolutely customer-focused approach to doing business.

Location wise - we're hubbed around BT Tower in London, Ipswich, Snow Hill in Birmingham, central Bristol, Manchester. We have a flexible approach to location - but, post Covid, you'll be expected to be in a BT office for a proportion of the working week.
