Job Description

Based in our Watford office, the Server Engineer will be responsible for preparing, planning and delivering the technical operation of fly away projects. As part of Gravity Media’s server department, the Server Engineer will be a part of a team entrusted with delivering networks of EVS servers and edit suites to major broadcast clients across the world.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, plan and deliver technical operation of fly away projects • Work closely with Rental, Assets and Engineering, and Workshop departments • Maintain equipment and develop relationships with manufacturers • Investigate and deliver solutions for client requirements • Develop and maintain workflows to ensure effective delivery and operation of the projects • Provide system support to address technical faults in a timely manner • Support and train the server engineers team, and mentor junior and scholar engineers. • Ability to prioritise and delegate tasks ,to work both alone and as part of a team and to remain calm under pressure

Qualifications

Essential

• Previous experience with:

o client and project management of large broadcast operationso rigging and de-rigging fly-away outside broadcast
o technical report writing and drawings using CAD, Visio or LucidChart

• Proficient as an EVS XT operator:

o Replay
o Presentation
o Co-ordination
o Bench design

• Proficient in engineering the Adobe CC Suite of applications:
o Premiere, Media Encoder, Prelude, After Effects
o Broadcast editing experience

• Proficient with Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching
o Demonstrate strong understanding and experience of OSI model, TCP-IP and UPD
o Demonstrate experience of designing/implementing switched and routed networks
o Access/trunk ports, Port channels, VLANs, OSPF, MTU sizes, QoS, DHCP

• Detailed understanding of:
o Codecs and wrappers o Windows, macOS and LinuxOS
o File systems
o SMPTE ST-2110

• Clear understanding of fundamentals of file-based workflows, as well as transcoding, processing and delivery systems.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

Desirable
• Previous experience with Automation Technologies, such as, Chef, Puppet or Ansible
• Previous experience with Virtualisation, GNS3, Docker, etc
