Job Description

The British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust is a young, successful charity with an ambitious agenda.  Funded by commercial broadcasters, we commission television programmes made in British Sign Language and work closely with the companies and Deaf programme-makers who produce them.

We are looking for a person to join our Commissioning team for at least twelve months to work as our BSLBT Drama Executive Producer, working alongside our Production Executives and reporting to the Head of Commissioning.  You will be the BSLBT editorial lead on a range of external drama developments and commissions as well as being involved in planning activities for drama commissioning.  

We are aware that eligible candidates may not have previous experience/credits as Executive Producers in television drama, so we will provide training and development to the successful candidate.

For this new role, we are looking for a person with a minimum of ten years’ experience working in broadcast television in a drama editorial role.  You must be a BSL user, you should have wide contacts in the Deaf world as well as experience of creating Deaf drama.  You also need a good knowledge of Ofcom Broadcasting Codes, and the ability to give balanced feedback and problem solve collaboratively so that a writer, director and production team can make their best drama programme.
